Video for practice problem P7-32-Use discontinuity Function.
We have a 9-foot-long beam acted upon by two concentrated loads: P1 = 180 lb and P2 = 450 lb. The two loads act downwards.
Part a) requires using the discontinuity function to write the expression for load w(x), the beam reactions in the expression.
In part b), w(x) must be integrated twice to determine V(x) and M(x).
In part c), V(x) and M(x) must be used to plot Shear force and bending moment diagrams. Write the expressions for W(x), V (x), and M(x) for the given beam. Use these data to plot shear and moment diagrams for the simply supported beam. Two concentrated loads act on the beam.
